French side Bastia have offered out-of-favour Celtic defender Efe Ambrose a two-year contract, Sky sources understand.

The Nigerian defender has not played for the Hoops since July and, along with Kris Commons and Kristoffer Ajer, was left out of Brendan Rodgers’ 24-man Champions League squad.

Ambrose is expected to leave Glasgow during the January transfer window, with the centre-back also believed to have had offers from China.

The 28-year-old joined Celtic from Israeli side Ashdod in August 2012 and has played 168 matches for the club.

His last came in the Champions League qualifier against Astana, however, and his time in the Parkhead wilderness could soon be coming to an end.

If Ambrose does make the move to Corsica he will be joining a Bastia side that sit 14th in Ligue 1, just two points above the relegation zone.
