Rangers are in advanced talks to sign West Ham defender Reece Oxford on loan until the end of the season, according to Sky sources.

The centre-half, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, recently signed a new deal with the Hammers tying him to the London Stadium until the summer of 2021.

He could now join Mark Warburton's squad as Rangers push for a second-place finish in the Scottish Premiership and success in the Scottish Cup.

Before signing his contract last month, Oxford had been linked with a move away from West Ham and Manchester United were among those credited with an interest in him.

Oxford became West Ham's youngest-ever first-team player at the age of 16 years and 198 days when he started their Europa League qualifier against Andorran side FC Lusitanos in July 2015.

He went on to make a total of 12 appearances for the club in 2015/16 and became the second youngest Premier League player of all time as he impressed in a 2-0 win at Arsenal.

This season his outings have been more limited - he has played only twice at senior level - but he has just recovered from an ankle injury.
