Former Rangers forward Mark Hateley says Pedro Caixinha needs to bring in "brave" players with "strong characters" this summer.
The Ibrox side are set to finish third in the Scottish Premiership this season and Caixinha, who took charge in March after the departure of Mark Warburton, is expected to overhaul his squad and make a number of additions, with Europa League qualifiers starting in late June.
Hateley, who won six Scottish titles in Govan, says any new signings need to be capable of dealing with the pressures associated with representing a big football club.
Asked what kind of additions Rangers need, Hateley said: "I think brave players, I think you have to have obviously good players with strong characters.
"I think that's what you need when you come to play for a big football club, you take on the responsibility of that football club and players that won't hide.
"You need to have a level of strength within the technical ability and those players are hard to find. When they are out there they are expensive players as well so it is a tough job for him.
"But you would like to think with his contacts within the world of football, on the Portuguese side especially, the European culture, technically gifted players - those players could and should be available to Pedro."
