Pedro Caixinha flew into Glasgow with two potential new players alongside him just hours before beginning pre-season training at 5.30am on Monday.

The Gers boss brought Dalcio and Fabio Cardoso back with him from Portugal on Sunday night, and they will aim to earn contracts when the team begin preparations just 15 days after the end of last season.

It is only 24 days until the Scottish Premiership side begin their Europa League qualifying campaign on June 22, with their opponents yet to be drawn.

Rangers are also expected to complete the signings of Mexico forward Eduardo Herrera and his fellow international Carlos Pena this week, as the club continue an already busy summer of transfer activity.

Ryan Jack has moved to Ibrox on a free transfer from Aberdeen and Bruno Alves has joined for £500,000 from Cagliari.

The 21-year-old forward Dalcio has been playing for Benfica's B side, after signing from fellow Portuguese Primeira side Belenenses in 2015. He is a Portugal U20 international.

The 23-year-old Cardoso is a former team-mate of Dalcio at Benfica B and also played for the Portugal youth teams.

Veracruz forward Herrera played under Caixinha at Santos Laguna. The 28-year-old has nine caps but all but one was won in 2015, which means Rangers would need to win a work permit appeal to complete his signing.
