Jocelyn Gourvennec takes over at Bordeaux after Guingamp exit

Jocelyn Gourvennec has left Guingamp to take over as Bordeaux's new head coach.
The two clubs announced on Friday afternoon that they had reached an agreement over compensation to allow the highly-regarded Gourvennec to move to the Stade Matmut Atlantique.
A statement on Bordeaux's website read: "The club has found its new coach in the person of Jocelyn Gourvennec.
"FC Girondins de Bordeaux have reached an agreement with EA Guingamp for (his) arrival."
Bordeaux parted company with coach Willy Sagnol in March, finishing the season with Ulrich Rame in charge on an interim basis as they pulled away from relegation danger to finish 11th.
Despite Rame's success, they have continued to search for a permanent successor to Sagnol.
Claude Puel, available after leaving Nice, and Michel Preud'homme, who has just won the Belgian title with Club Brugge, had been linked with the post, but Gourvennec has won the race.
The 44-year-old, a former playmaker with Rennes, Nantes and Marseille among others, was earmarked during his playing days for future success in a coaching role.
He began his career in the dugout with lowly La Roche Vendee in 2008, stepping up two years later to Guingamp with whom he won two promotions to reach Ligue 1.
