Manchester City target Benjamin Mendy will not be rushed into deciding his next club with Chelsea, Liverpool, Barcelona and Juventus also interested in the Monaco left-back, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News HQ understands that City contacted Monaco about the 22-year-old and were told he will cost at least £40m.

City have subsequently shifted their interest to Southampton's Ryan Bertrand as they assess new options at full-back, but Mendy is still expected to leave the French champions this summer.

The France international is understood to be intrigued by Pep Guardiola's philosophy at the Etihad but could have the choice of a host of Europe's top clubs, including Antonio Conte's Premier League champions.

Manchester United have also been keen on Mendy but the player wants to move to a club with a chance at winning both its domestic title and the Champions League next season, and is more sceptical of United's chances.

Mendy is currently on international duty with France and is expected to add his third and fourth caps in the World Cup European Qualifier against Sweden on Friday and next week's friendly with England.

Guardiola wants him as he looks to add two of the best attacking full-backs in the world to his squad this summer, and the Catalan is also confident of signing Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker.
