Lazio have dismissed reports they have agreed to sell Brazilian playmaker Felipe Anderson to Manchester United in the summer.

Reports in Italy claimed club president Claudio Lotito was overheard saying he had agreed to sell the 22-year-old to United for £46.8m (60m euros) but the Serie A side dismissed those rumours on Monday afternoon.

A statement published on Lazio's official website read: "In reference to statements attributed to president Claudio Lotito regarding the alleged sale of Felipe Anderson, Lazio can confirm they are devoid of any foundation."

Il Messaggero claimed journalists heard Lotito saying Anderson was on his way to Old Trafford while speaking to colleagues at Salernitana's Serie B match against Crotone on Sunday.

Anderson made 24 league appearances for the Biancocelesti this season, scoring six goals.
