Bundesliga: Struggling Stuttgart forced to settle for a point

Stuttgart wasted an opportunity to ease their relegation worries on Sunday when they threw away a 1-0 lead against Werder Bremen to draw 1-1 with their fellow Bundesliga strugglers.

Lukas Rupp gave the Swabians the lead, but Anthony Ujah earned Bremen a point which keeps them three points clear of their hosts with his fifth goal away from home this season.

As a result, Stuttgart remain second from the bottom of the league with their poor form continuing under caretaker coach Jurgen Kramny, and perhaps more urgency now given to their search for a full-time replacement for Alexander Zorniger.

The draw will not ease the pressure on Bremen coach Viktor Skripnik, however, with just a point now separating them from the bottom three.

Sunday's other game saw promoted Darmstadt secure local honours and reinforce their position as the current No 1 club in Hesse with a 1-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Aytac Sulu scored the only goal of the game at the Waldstadion as Darmstadt pulled four points clear of their hosts.

Frankfurt left the field to a chorus of boos with only a point now separating them from the relegation zone, heading into the final two fixtures of 2015.
