Robert Lewandowski has signed a two-year contract extension with Bayern Munich until 2021.

The Poland international, who joined Bayern in 2014, moved onto 11 Bundesliga goals for the season with his brace in a 5-0 win over Wolfsburg on Saturday.

The 28-year-old was the league's top scorer last season with 30 goals and has now scored 58 times in 77 league games for the champions.

Although he was overlooked in the Ballon d'Or, he has decided to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena.

"I am very pleased that the negotiations have led to a positive result and that I have more years at Bayern," he told the club website. "Together we still have great goals."

Bayern's weekend win over Wolfsburg moved them top of the Bundesliga, with just two games left before the winter break.

On Sunday they travel to Darmstadt before finishing 2016 with a top-of-the-table clash against second-placed RB Leipzig.
