Bayern Munich moved above Leipzig at the top of the Bundesliga, 11 days before the top two are due to meet at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern cruised past troubled Wolfsburg 5-0 with Robert Lewandowski, who put five past the Wolves last season, on target twice.

Thomas Muller opened his account for the season, just one minute short of 1000 without scoring, with Arjen Robben and Douglas Costa also on target for Carlo Ancelotti's men.

It was enough to take Bayern to the summit on goal difference from Leipzig, whose unbeaten record in the Bundesliga was ended by 10-man Ingolstadt.

The Bavarians were propping up the table coming into the weekend's fixtures, but a goal from Roger was enough for them to beat a side led by their former coach Ralph Hasenhuttl 1-0 and lift them off the bottom.

Matthew Leckie was sent off at the death for the hosts.

It could have been even worse for Thomas Tuchel's men, who had a last-minute Marco Reus equaliser to thank for salvaging them a point after Artjoms Rudnevs had put Cologne in front.

In the bottom half of the table, Hamburg made it two wins in a row, with a Filip Kostic goal enough to see off Augsburg in a game which saw both sides reduced to 10 men - Lewis Holtby sent off first for the hosts and Dominik Kohr following for the guests.

Werder Bremen followed in their northern Germany rivals' footsteps by notching their second straight triumph in Saturday's evening kick-off.

Max Kruse's second goal in as many games was enough to see them come away with all three points from high-flying Hertha Berlin with a 1-0 win.

Finally, Freiburg sent Darmstadt to the bottom of the standings with a 1-0 victory thanks to a late Nils Petersen penalty.
