Hapoel Be'er Sheva defender Shir Tzedek has been handed an eight-month ban by UEFA after testing positive for a stimulant at a Champions League game.

Tzedek reportedly tested positive for the stimulant Octopamine following the Champions League qualifying game against Maribor in August 2017.

UEFA says the verdict is 'final and binding' because neither the player nor the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed the decision.

The Israel defender, 28, scored in a 2-1 win over Lugano to begin the Europa League group stage in September, after his team were eliminated from the Champions League.

Tzedek didn't feature in the competition again.
