SSN HQ chief football reporter Nick Collins says the FA will rubber-stamp Gareth Southgate's appointment as England manager at a board meeting on Wednesday

The FA board will meet today at St George's Park where they are expected to confirm Gareth Southgate as England manager, according to Sky sources.

Southgate was interviewed by a five-man panel at St George's Park last week after completing an unbeaten run of four games as interim boss earlier this month.

FA chairman Greg Clarke, FA chief executive Martin Glenn and FA technical director Dan Ashworth were part of that five-man panel, which also included Graeme Le Saux and Howard Wilkinson, and will put the case forward for Southgate to become Sam Allardyce's permanent successor.

George Boateng, who played with and for Southgate, says he manages to make his players feel needed and confident

Glenn told Sky Sports News HQ earlier this month that Southgate was in a "strong position" to secure the role on a permanent basis.

But Sky sources understand Southgate will only consider accepting a contract that runs until the end of Euro 2020 and he expects financial parity with his predecessors.

Southgate was placed in interim control following the departure of Allardyce in September and led England two wins and two draws during his four-match spell in charge.
