France must not make the same mistake as England in underestimating Euro 2016 outsiders Iceland, Patrice Evra has warned.

Evra claims English journalists were looking forward to a quarter-final against France before a stunning Iceland win ended England's tournament and brought an end to Roy Hodgson's time as manager.

The hosts had a fright of their own against Republic of Ireland before coming through 2-1 and needed late goals to win group games against Romania and Albania.

And Evra, who will line up at left-back in Sunday's last-eight tie, says Les Bleus' "crazy" performances can only take them so far.

"We keep scaring ourselves, we're crazy," the 35-year-old said. "If we keep doing that, we might not go through. We need to stop reacting and start acting.

"I can't stop there, we can't stop there. We all know what we're here for.

"Before England played them, English journalists were asking me what it would be like to face England and I told them, 'Wait a minute, guys, you're not there yet'.

"People go on about long throws and all that but Iceland are not just that. They're a good team who can play good football and they did not get to that stage by accident.

"We have all due respect for Iceland, which does not mean we don't believe we can't beat them."
