MLS expert Calen Carr tells Sky Sports News how Will Ferrell's Los Angeles FC got on in their first ever MLS match

Former Chicago Fire and Houston Dynamo forward Calen Carr says the more Will Ferrell gets involved with Los Angeles FC, the bigger the benefit is for Major League Soccer.

Hollywood star and co-owner of LAFC, Ferrell, was in attendance as the expansion side began life in Major League soccer with a 1-0 win over Seattle Sounders.

Carr believes Ferrell's involvement is only going to help the division continue to grow.

Carr told Sky Sports News: "The more we can get Will Ferrell on camera, the better for MLS. He was so funny pre-match."

LAFC became just the second expansion side in MLS history to win their opening game. Diego Rossi clinched the historic winner with a right-footed shot past Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei just 11 minutes in.

The Uruguayan's effort equalled the record for the earliest goal by an expansion team in their first MLS match.

Carr continued: "It really came down to it on the field and what a start for an expansion club. The fastest goal for an expansion club in history. It only took 11 minutes to get on the board. What a way to do it, Carlos Vela, the ex-Arsenal man, made a beautiful little slip pass into 19-year-old Uruguayan Diego Rossi, who bent it into the far post.

"Going to Seattle is no easy option. Of course there was no Clint Dempsey because he was rested for the CONCACAF Champions League. Still a fantastic dream start for LAFC."

Carr believes LAFC youngster Rossi could be one of the breakout stars of the season.

He added: "He looked bright right from the start. He played as an inverted winger making slashing runs infield. That front four for LAFC looked very dynamic.

"Carlos Vela is a player everyone knows, he looked very bright and will be motivated by the upcoming World Cup. Diego Rossi was the guy to watch as well. He's a signal of the type of player MLS side are bringing into the league now, adding a bit of flair into the attack."
