VAR makes the headlines and Bob Bradley gets Los Angeles FC's first win as the new MLS season gets underway

Los Angeles FC became just the second expansion team in Major League Soccer history to win the first road match they have ever played.

LAFC overcame the Seattle Sounders 1-0 on Sunday in the club's inaugural game, echoing the success of Chicago Fire in 1998.

It was Diego Rossi who clinched the historic winner with a right-footed shot past Stefan Frei just 11 minutes in. The Uruguayan's effort equalled the record for the earliest goal by an expansion team in their first MLS match.

Los Angeles' other team, LA Galaxy, also gave their fans something to shout about, edging the Portland Timbers 2-1.

After scoring twice in the space of three minutes in the first half, the Galaxy battled to hold on to their lead and Portland's Sebastian Blanco narrowed the gap with an angled strike through the legs of goalkeeper David Bingham after 66 minutes.

But an equaliser never materialised, giving the Galaxy the victory in their season opener.
