Free agent XI: Zlatan Ibrahimovic and John Terry soon out of contract

John Terry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be available on free transfers

With the transfer window now closed, a host of big-name players are in a position to run down their contracts. There's a formidable team to be built without paying a transfer fee this summer...

Our team includes winners of the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and the Champions League, as well as a World Cup winner.

Check out this line-up...

Wojciech Szczesny

The Arsenal goalkeeper is on loan at Roma this season but his contract with the Gunners is also up in the summer. The Poland international lost his place to David Ospina last season and the arrival of Petr Cech ended his hopes of a starting berth. However, Szczesny showed plenty of potential during his time in England and at 25, he has time to develop his game.

Gregory van der Wiel

The Netherlands international has pedigree, having played in a World Cup final in 2010 and he has also picked up a league title winners' medal in each of his last five seasons (two with Ajax and four with current club Paris Saint-Germain). While the French side continue to dominate Ligue 1, the 28-year-old right-back is out of favour and likely to move on in the summer.

Martin Demichelis

The Manchester City defender was awarded with a one-year contract extension at the end of last season after a solid showing in the 2014/15 campaign - but has failed to replicate this so far this term. The centre-back turned 35 in December, and despite featuring regularly following injuries to the Citizens back-line, his performances have deteriorated and it is thought he won't be asked to stay after his contract runs out in June.

John Terry

Terry is Chelsea's club captain and played a pivotal role in last season's Premier League title win. Like many at the club, it's been tougher of late but the news that the 35-year-old has not been offered a new deal - revealed by Terry himself - was still a shock. Whether that's the end of the tale remains to be seen, but Terry will be of interest to many top clubs.

Patrice Evra

The former Manchester United left-back has been sorely missed at Old Trafford since his departure in 2014 and proved he could still cut it at a high level by going all the way to the Champions League final with Juventus last season. The Frenchman appears in line to get a new deal in Turin, but the 34-year-old is yet to finalise the terms.

Sofiane Feghouli

The Algeria international winger was one of the key performers for Valencia as they secured fourth spot in La Liga last season and has been a regular in the side since the arrival of Gary Neville. But the tricky 26-year-old has thus far not agreed a new contract with the Spanish side and is in a position to pen a lucrative deal elsewhere. Numerous top clubs are said to be monitoring his situation.

Riccardo Montolivo

With 60 caps for Italy, Montolivo was once among the most admired midfielders in Europe but injuries have been a problem for the AC Milan man in recent seasons. Now 31, the former Fiorentina star might yet agree a new contract at the San Siro after impressing with his early-season form but nothing has yet been agreed and others might be tempted too.

Ever Banega

The 27-year-old Argentina international helped Sevilla to the Europa League last season but is out of contract in the summer - sparking plenty of interest from around the continent. In December, Banega's agent was talking up interest from AC Milan but the likes of Manchester United are said to be lining up contracts to secure his services in June.

Francesco Totti

The definition of a one-club man, Totti is an AS Roma legend having made his first team debut in 1993, and going on to make over 750 appearances and scoring 300 goals. He's their captain, most capped player and highest ever goalscorer - but could be moving on in June as the saga surrounding his contract rumbles on. Some say he will retire, others speculate he could move to another club with plenty of rumours surrounding his intended destination.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Still one of Europe's most feared forwards, Ibrahimovic has chalked up more than 24 league goals for PSG this term and has secured yet another league title to add to his collection. But at 34, the long-term deals are over and that means the Swede is now free to look elsewhere. PSG boss Laurent Blanc says he's "relaxed" but supporters might not agree.

Fernando Torres

Atletico Madrid took over the remaining 18 months on Torres's AC Milan contract but that deal expires in the summer and for all El Nino's popularity among the Atleti faithful, it looks increasingly unlikely that an extension will be agreed. Torres, who recently scored in his 300th appearnce f, turns 32 in March and may have to look elsewhere for first-team action.
