Dundee United midfielder Chris Erskine will return to Partick Thistle at the end of the season after signing a pre-contract agreement with the club.

The 28-year-old has signed a three-year deal and will rejoin Alan Archibald's squad in the summer.

Erskine was a Firhill favourite in his first spell with the club, having joined from Ayrshire junior team Kilbirnie Ladeside in the summer of 2009.

He spent four seasons as a first-team regular before signing for Dundee United, but Erskine was loaned back during his first year at Tannadice and spent the second half of the campaign back with Thistle.

Erskine eventually became a United regular in 2014-15, scoring eight goals in 41 games, but a pelvic injury sidelined him for three months this season and he has been in and out of the starting line-up since his return at the start of December.
