David Prutton's festive EFL predictions

Prutton's Predictions

David Prutton returns with his Sky Bet EFL predictions throughout the festive season.

But who is our resident expert tipping for victory? Read on to find out...

Leeds v Nottingham Forest, New Year's Day 3pm - Live on Sky Sports Football

That was a hugely frustrating defeat for Leeds against Birmingham after such a good run of form. But there will always be setbacks in the Championship and Nottingham Forest at home presents a great opportunity for them to bounce back.

Forest have been on a difficult run themselves but Mark Warburton will get them up for this one on New Year's Day, and I fancy them to earn a draw.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 with Daryl Murphy to score first (30/1 with Sky Bet)

Derby v Sheffield United, New Year's Day 3pm

Derby have been on a great run of form and they now look like genuine contenders for the top two in the Sky Bet Championship. They were a long way behind Sheffield United a few weeks ago but things have changed pretty quickly.

It was a poor defeat for the Blades at home to Bolton in the type of game they would be hoping to win but they're still in the top six heading into 2018, and they would have taken that at the start of the season.

Aston Villa v Bristol City, New Year's Day 5.30pm

Aston Villa were dreadful at Brentford on Boxing Day but they did very well to get back to winning ways at Middlesbrough on Saturday. They're still on the cusp of the top six but will need a good run from here to get back into contention for automatic promotion.

Victory over Bristol City would be a good place to start, but I fancy the Robins to keep up their own bid with a victory at Villa Park, despite that late heartbreak against Wolves.

Prutton predicts: 1-2 (10/1 with Sky Bet)
