Ben Pearson returns from suspension for Preston's Sky Bet Championship encounter with Ipswich.

The former Manchester United trainee picked up his 10th booking of the season against Arsenal earlier this month and has therefore been absent for North End's past two games.

Full-back Greg Cunningham remains out after triggering a suspension of the same length, though he will return on Tuesday at Cardiff.

John Welsh (calf), Calum Woods (knee) and Alex Baptiste (knee) are all unavailable once more.

Midfielder Toumani Diagouraga could make his debut after joining Ipswich on loan from Leeds, while forward David McGoldrick (hamstring) and midfielder Teddy Bishop (ankle) are back in the squad following recovery from injury.

Goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski is available again after missing last week's 2-0 defeat at Huddersfield through illness, but full-back Myles Kenlock (calf) is still not fully fit.

A deal has also been agreed to bring in former Newcastle defender Steven Taylor, who has been training at the club after playing for Major Soccer League side Portland Timbers, but Town boss Mick McCarthy confirmed forward Leon Best, who signed a one-year deal in August, will not feature.

Defender Tommy Smith (back) and midfielder Luke Hyam (knee) continue their recoveries as do on-loan Crystal Palace midfielder Jonny Williams (shoulder) and Giles Coke (knee). Defender Adam Webster will miss the rest of the season following ankle surgery.
