Manager Moyes admitted the Black Cats need to rediscover their "identity" after picking up just one point in three league games so far this season.

"I think the slow builds are better than the fast ones," said Moyes. "We need to get the club's identity back."

    Merson's prediction

Sunderland were very unlucky not to win at Southampton, but when they went 1-0 up I felt they went a little too negative.

I know David Moyes is looking for his first victory but I don't think it comes against Everton, who are my dark horses this year.

Ross Barkley will be champing at the bit to make sure he gets going, and it's only a matter of time before the goals start coming for Romelu Lukaku.

Sunderland will play into their hands and I think it's an away win for Ronald Koeman's side.
