Joe Marler has been warned over his part in England team-mate James Haskell's weekend sin-binning.

Haskell was sent to the bin for grabbing Marler by the throat during Wasps' 24-21 defeat to Harlequins at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday.

The Wasps forward complained he had been provoked by Marler squirting water in his face and choking him with his own chin strap.

And the Quins prop has since been given a citing commissioner's warning, the Rugby Football Union has confirmed. Three warnings in one season mean a one-match suspension.

Speaking after Sunday's game, Wasps boss Dai Young said: "If someone rips your hat off and squirts water in your face, what do you expect?
