Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal welcomed long-term injury absentees Ashley Young and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson back to training ahead of their Europa League clash with Liverpool on Thursday.

United must overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg of their last-16 tie following defeat at Anfield on March 10 with goals from Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino handing the advantage to Jurgen Klopp's side.

Louis Van Gaal is confident his side can overturn the two goal deficit in the return leg against Liverpool in the Europa League

Van Gaal will be relieved his injury concerns are beginning to lessen with 22 players taking part in training, although it remains to be seen if the game against Liverpool comes too soon for Young and Borthwick-Jackson.

England international Young has not played since the 1-0 victory away to Liverpool in the Premier League on January 17 due to a groin problem, while Borthwick-Jackson has been on the sidelines since sustaining a knock in February's FA Cup win at Shrewsbury.

Defenders Phil Jones and Luke Shaw remain absent with Adnan Januzaj and Timothy Fosu-Mensah involved in training, despite being ineligible for Thursday's match.
