Getafe clinch double swoop

Getafe have completed the signings of Juan Calatayud and Javier Paredes.

Getafe have completed the signings of goalkeeper Juan Calatayud and defender Javier Paredes.

Calatayud (pictured) joins on a season-long loan from Malaga where he fell out of favour towards the end of last season.

The 25-year-old admitted that Getafe's manager Bernd Schuster had been a key factor in his decision to move on and was looking forward to his time at the Madrid-based outfit.

"He (Schuster) was a great player, and coaches know how to transmit knowledge to their players and that is very important," he stated.

"What I like most about Getafe is their seriousness and honesty.

"I asked Malaga to leave the club on loan, and Getafe did everything they promised to and that was very important."

Paredes, a left back, joins on a three-year contract from Real Madrid and will battle with Argentine Mariano Pernai for a first-team spot.

He joined Real in the summer of 2003 from Oviedo and is a Spain Under-18 international.
