Nastic claim Campano victory

Nastic have held off strong competition to clinch the signing of Alejandro Campano.

Newly-promoted Gimnastic de Tarragona have held off strong competition to clinch the signing of Alejandro Campano.

The 27-year-old had been a free agent after departing Mallorca earlier in the summer and had attracted the interest of a host of sides.

Espanyol, Racing Santander, Levante and Recreativo de Huelva all showed interest in the player, but Campano opted for Nastic having been swayed by manager Luis Sampedro and has inked a three-year deal.

"I was won over by the interest of Nastic's coach," he explained.

"What's more I have already fitted in to the dressing room and there is a phenomenal atmosphere.

"I am sure I have made the right decision and that we will have a good season."

Campano becomes the club's fourth signing of the summer following the capture of left back Mingo from Albacete, midfielder Juan Diaz Prendes from Sporting Gijon and goalkeeper Albano Bizarri from Real Valladolid.

Another boost for the club is the news that they have agreed a deal to extend the loan of Valencia star Manel Ruz for a second season.

The full back was one of the star performers as the Catalan minnows gained promotion last term and he will now stay on for a further 12 months.
