BORO COMPLETE DOUBLE SWOOP

MIDDLESBROUGH have completed their double swoop for Manchester United duo Jonathan Greening and Mark Wilson.

Ex-United assistant manager Steve McClaren has brought two of his former charges to The Riverside with Greening (pictured) costing £2 million and Wilson £1.5 million.

The talented duo, who both play for England's Under-21 side and are included in David Platt's first squad, have agreed five year deals to remain in the North East until 2006.

Both Greening and Wilson had levelled criticism at Manchester United when it became clear that McClaren was desperate to bring them to Boro, with the former claiming that the signing of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Juan Sebastian Veron confirmed that "youngsters at United are rarely given the same opportunity as players were in the past."

Greening has been a consistent peformer for the national youth set-up, although his appearances for the English Champions have been limited to mainly substitute or cup appearances.

Wilson has also been a peripheral figure at United, making just nine appearances for the first team and spending time away from the club at Wrexham.
