Uruguay show Italian flavour

URUGUAY have named a squad containing almost a third Serie A based players for their friendly against Italy on April 17.

With the friendly being played at the Giuseppe Meazza in Milan, many of the players will be in familiar surroundings.

Both Alvaro Recoba and Gonzalo Sorondo play for Inter - who use the San Siro stadium for home games - and will be joined in the squad by Roma's Gianni Guigou, Paulo Montero and Fabian Carini of Juventus, Fabian O'Neill of Perugia, and Venezia duo Federico Magallanes and Pablo Garcia.

The Spanish league provides five more players - Dario Silva and Marcelo Romero of Malaga, Valencia star Gonzalo de los Santos, Mario Regueiro of Racing Santander and Real Betis' Washington Tais.

Mexican-based Sebastian Abreu and Diego Forlan of Manchester United are the two other non domestic-based players.

The star name from the Uruguayan league is former Juventus player Daniel Fonseca.
