Simao in United snub

Benfica winger Simao Sabrosa has snubbed reported interest from Manchester United.

Benfica winger Simao Sabrosa has snubbed reported interest from Manchester United.

Speculation over the weekend claimed that the Portugal international has emerged as the latest target for United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

With Ryan Giggs' future at Old Trafford still uncertain, Simao was put forward as a possible replacement for the Welshman on the left flank.

But the 25-year-old has asserted that he has no desire to follow compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo to United at this stage of his career.

The former Sporting Lisbon and Barcelona winger is tied to Benfica until 2010 and is happy with the Portuguese giants.

He admits that, despite The Red Devils being one of the world's biggest clubs, Simao is not interested in joining the Premiership outfit.

"I have nothing to comment about that matter," Simao told Record.

"I have a contract here until 2010 and I am tranquil.

"During a long career, happily, I have had several clubs interested.

"But that interest [of Manchester United], at 25 years of age, does not stir anything in me."
