Lyn hold United meeting

Lyn and Man Utd remain insistent over Nigerian starlet John Obi Mikel.

After a meeting between Lyn and Manchester United, the two clubs remain insistent over the future of Nigerian starlet John Obi Mikel.

The 18-year-old midfielder penned a deal with United in April after The Red Devils struck a deal with his club Lyn.

However, Mikel has since stated that he was forced to sign for United and he actually wants to join Chelsea - who had previously thought they had first option on the African.

The issue is now being looked at by Fifa and the player's agent John Shittu has already asked for them to cancel the contract Mikel signed with United.

Lyn director Morgan Andersen has always insisted that the United deal is still in place and he has now met with counterpart David Gill to prepare a joint response to Fifa's investigation.

"We have no reason to believe that United will cancel the deal," said Andersen after the meeting.

"Manchester United want John Obi Mikel.

"There are strong accusations against both us and United, and have now got to reply.

"We are both on the same line and we used the meeting to coordinate our documentation."
