Gradi eyes Johnson stay

Crewe Alexandra boss Dario Gradi is keen to extend Eddie Johnson's loan deal.

Crewe Alexandra boss Dario Gradi says he is keen to extend the loan of Manchester United youngster Eddie Johnson.

The striker is due to return to Old Trafford in January after completing six months with Gradi's Championship outfit.

Despite finding the net just once in nine games for Crewe, Johnson has convinced Gradi to pursue an extension of the current agreement.

"Eddie might choose to go back to Manchester United or go somewhere else but I would love him to stay with us," Gradi told the club's official website.

"He can become a very good player, because I have known about him since he was a kid."
