Casillas signs Real deal

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has signed a new contract until 2011.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has put an end to speculation about his future by signing a deal that binds him to the Bernabeu until 2011.

The Spain international had reportedly been the subject of interest from Europe's finest but has always stated a desire to remain in the capital.

Barcelona, Manchester United and Arsenal were all credited as being potential suitors but the 24-year-old has now committed his long-term future to Real.

Casillas insists that he has never held any desire to leave Madrid and with his future having been sorted, has spoken of his delight at extending his stay.

"I've renewed my contract for another five years," he confirmed.

"It's a very happy day for me and now I want to carry on winning things with Real Madrid.

"I've been saying that I wanted to stay here for the last 12 months. I've never thought of another club.

''I want to return the faith they have shown in me by winning trophies. I'm now going to be here until 2011 when I will be 30.

''I grew up in Madrid and want to die in Madrid in a sporting sense.''
