Owls bring in duo

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Deon Burton and Marcus Tudgay.

Sheffield Wednesday have bolstered their attack with the double signing of Deon Burton and Marcus Tudgay.

Burton has joined for an undisclosed fee from Yorkshire rivals Rotherham, while Tudgay arrives on a month's loan from Derby.

Owls boss Paul Sturrock has been keen to add to his attacking options with his side struggling in front of goal all season.

Burton has been linked with a move to Hillsborough for some time after handing in a transfer request at Rotherham.

Former Derby and Portsmouth striker Burton has signed an 18-month deal at Wednesday and Sturrock was delighted to land his man.

"We've watched Deon several times this season and we know him from playing against him last season," Sturrock told the club's official website.

"He is a proven goalscorer, a penalty box player, who can also lead the line very well. He is a target man who holds the ball up."

Sturrock also revealed he has held a long-term interest in Tudgay after watching him in action last season.

"Marcus can play several positions up front and is a different type of player.

"We watched him last season, when he scored 10 goals, and he played very well against us at Hillsborough."

Meanwhile, Chris Eagles has returned to Manchester United after a successful loan spell.
