Danny Simpson is the latest Manchester United youngster to head for Royal Antwerp on loan.

The Belgian side have already secured winger Lee Martin and are confident of finalising the arrival of Richie Jones and Adam Eckersley.

Simpson is an 18-year-old full back who will look to push on under the watchful eye of United coach Andy Welsh, who is also working with The Red Devils' feeder club.

The Salford-born defender will stay with Antwerp until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, an incoming player at Old Trafford has spoken briefly about his move from Monaco to The Premiership.

"A catastrophe would have to happen for me not to sign for Manchester United," said Patrice Evra, who is due to undergo a medical on Monday.

The Frenchman will be the second signing of the transfer window for Sir Alex Ferguson.
