Okocha hails 'rare' Mikel

Jay-Jay Okocha says Nigeria team-mate John Obi Mikel is a 'rare' talent.

Nigeria star Jay-Jay Okocha says young Super Eagles team-mate John Obi Mikel is a 'rare' talent.

The 18-year-old midfielder is currently the subject of a bitter transfer wrangle involving Chelsea and Manchester United, but is attempting to focus on international concerns at the African Cup of Nations.

The Lyn star impressed vividly during the 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe as he scored one and created another to demonstrate exactly why he is in such high demand for two of European football's superpowers.

Now Bolton star Okocha has hailed his young team-mate as a bright talent who can make a big impact in the game.

"This kind of player is very rare," said Okocha. "He is a natural talent."

Okocha is expected to call time on his Trotters career in the summer to pick up a massive pay-cheque in Qatar, and the extraordinarily gifted 32-year-old says he has no plans to move into management when he hangs up his boots.

"I've been playing in Europe for 16 years and it's always been pressure, and as a manager it's even worse," Okocha added.
