Wolves in Cole and Tyson hunt

Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle has admitted he has tried to sign Chelsea striker Carlton Cole.

Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle has admitted he has tried to sign Chelsea striker Carlton Cole.

Hoddle is keen to bolster his attacking options after losing Kenny Miller, Carl Cort and George Ndah to injury.

The Molineux chief made an enquiry for Cole, who is well down the pecking order at Chelsea.

However, it appears Chelsea have rebuffed their overtures and are keen to keep Cole at Stamford Bridge.

Hoddle also revealed he is interested in signing Wycombe hot-shot Nathan Tyson as well as Cole.

"Tyson is one of five or six young players we have been monitoring and still are," Hoddle told the club's official website.

"Another was Carlton Cole. We had hoped Chelsea might let him come to us and sharpen up before they lose Didier Drogba in the African Nations Cup."
