Chelsea new boy Henrique Hilario has vowed to fight for his place at Stamford Bridge.Hilario joined Chelsea earlier this summer on a free transfer and he provides competition for Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini.
The 30-year-old is highly-rated by Blues boss Jose Mourinho having worked with him at Porto.
Hilario is expected to start the season as third-choice keeper, but he insists he has not just joined Chelsea to make up the numbers.
"For me it is fantastic to be here and working with these kind of players," said Hilario.
"I know I have much to learn and if I work hard and do well I will get a chance to play.
"I knew Jose (Mourinho) before at Porto and he is a great boss for me and the other players.
"When I got the phone call from my manager to say there was a chance to come here, I was very happy.
"Everybody here knows they will have to be at their best all the time to play and I am here to play matches and be a success."
Mourinho believes Hilario will prove a valuable addition to his squad.
"He is a good keeper who I trust at this level," said Mourinho.
"With the number of matches we need three goalkeepers ready to play.
"In the past two seasons we had a little bit of luck because we had no big injuries with our keepers.
"But we decided at this level we cannot have a young boy or a player with little experience.
"Hilario was my keeper in Porto. At that time we had Victor Baia for ages and he didn't play a lot of matches.
"He moved to another club and after that he had some competitive games and I knew the quality he had."
