Mixed news for Blues

Wayne Bridge is still feeling discomfort but Ashley Cole is set to return to training.

Jose Mourinho has revealed Wayne Bridge is still feeling discomfort in his hip, but Ashley Cole is set to begin training next week.

Bridge completed last season for Chelsea but then picked up an injury on international duty.

He has not yet been able to return to full training and Mourinho is still waiting to hear how long he will be out.

"Bridge has a problem in his hip he brings from his last game with the national team," said the Chelsea boss.

"Yesterday, he tried to train but it was not feeling good.

"I'm not sure how he is but he is in the medical department's hands and they have to make a good judgement of his situation and then make a decision about his near future."

Fellow left-back Cole was hampered by a number of niggling injuries in his first season at Stamford Bridge, and underwent ankle surgery after the FA Cup final.

But Mourinho is confident he will play a part in Chelsea's pre-season after working hard at his rehabilitation.

He explained: "Ashley is in the final process of his recovery.

"He was very professional in his holidays, which were just a week because he was working and trying to recover during the whole period.

"We believe he can start working with the team in the US, in the middle of the second week and so we hope he will be ready to play in pre-season matches when we return to Europe and then start the season."
