Gerrard denies FA charge

STEVEN GERRARD has denied a charge of violent conduct during Liverpool's derby draw with Everton before Christmas.

The Football Association threw the book at the combative midfielder after a two-footed lunge on Toffees midfielder Gary Naysmith during the December 22 tussle at Anfield.

Gerrard's dangerous tackle went unnoticed by match referee Graham Poll, enabling the FA to use video evidence to charge the England international.

But Gerrard has responded by formally denying the charge and must now wait for a date for the hearing to be set.
