Zak returns to Lions Den

Millwall have signed Liverpool defender Zak Whitbread for an undisclosed fee.

Millwall have signed Liverpool defender Zak Whitbread for an undisclosed fee.

The American centre back becomes Nigel Spackman's third signing of the close season, as the South East London club look to bounce back from Championship relegation last term.

Whitbread signed a two-year deal with The Lions, having spent most of last season on loan at The Den.

The 22-year-old made 25 appearances for Millwall last term, having struggled to make a real breakthrough during his time with The Reds.

He follows former Gillingham striker Darren Byfield and former Chelsea goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley in becoming Millwall's newest faces for next season.
