Aliadiere woe deepens

Arsenal have now confirmed that French striker Jeremie Aliadiere will be out of action for 'several months' with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Arsenal have now confirmed that French striker Jeremie Aliadiere will be out of action for 'several months' with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

It was initially thought that the 21-year-old hit-man would be sidelined for around three months with the problem, but The Gunners have now revealed the full extent of the injury after scans.

Aliadiere has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and now looks certain to miss the majority of the season.

"It has been confirmed that Jeremie Aliadiere has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will be out for several months," read a statement on the club's official website.

"Everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery."

The French starlet sustained the injury after coming on as a second half replacement for Dennis Bergkamp in last Sunday's Community Shield against Manchester United.

Aliadiere's attempts to press his claims for regular football at Highbury have repeatedly been hampered by injury and the France Under-21 international will be devastated by his latest blow.
