No Cygan return

Lille have reportedly turned down the chance to try and sign Pascal Cygan.

Lille have reportedly turned down the chance to try and sign former defender Pascal Cygan.

The Frenchman has already indicated his desire to remain at Highbury even though he is not a regular under Arsene Wenger.

However, he was an outspoken critic of Arsenal's decision to sell Patrick Vieira and rumours are rife that he was keen to return to Lille.

Chairman Michel Seydoux denied these suggestions but his priorities lie in other areas with a forward and attacking midfielder required.

Fulham's Steve Marlet and Habib Bamogo of Marseille were considered but Raja Casablanca ace Hicham Aboucherouane is a new name on the list.

The 24-year-old midfielder could put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract with Les Dogues.

Al-Saad's Abdelkader Keita is also being targeted and a fee has been agreed with the Qatari outfit.

Keita still needs to negotiate his personal terms with Lille.
