Giuly calm over future

Ludovic Giuly claims he is in no rush to thrash out a new deal with Barcelona.

France star Ludovic Giuly claims he is in no rush to thrash out a new deal with Barcelona.

The schemer's present contract has just over a year to run and talk has centred on whether he will be offered fresh terms.

Former Monaco star Giuly claims he is no rush to seek out a new deal, but is content with life in Catalunya.

"I have one year of my contract left," he said. "I will still be a Barcelona player next season.

"I have no intention of renegotiating my contract at the moment."

Giuly has revealed that Thierry Henry has told him that he likes Barcelona, as reports continue to circulate in Catalunya that the Arsenal star could be close to signing for the Camp Nou giants.

The French winger believes that Henry would be a great signing for Barca, even though his arrival could reduce his own chances of playing regularly.

"Henry said to me that he likes Barcelona and he would be a good player for us," Giuly said at a press conference on Friday.

The second leg of the UEFA Champions League tie against Chelsea is fast approaching, but Giuly is adamant that Barca are only focusing on their league encounter against Deportivo La Coruna this weekend.

"For the sake of the future and our main aim, which is to win the league, I am totally focused on the game against Deportivo and have not even thought about Tuesday's game against Chelsea," he concluded.

After recovering from an injury that has seen him sidelined for the last three weeks, Giuly is preparing to play against Deportivo on Saturday in place of Lionel Messi.

Despite the duo vying for the same place in Frank Rijkaard's side on the right of the three-pronged attack, Giuly is full of praise for the Argentina ace.

"Messi is a high quality player," Giuly continued. "He likes to run with the ball and has impressive skill, especially considering the fact that he is only 18. But for both of us the most important thing is for Barcelona to win."
