Gilberto welcomes new arrivals

Gilberto is looking forward to linking up with Denilson and Julio Baptista at Arsenal.

Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva is looking forward to linking up with two new Brazilians at The Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger beat the transfer deadline last week to snap up 18-year-old starlet Denilson from Sao Paulo, while Real Madrid's Julio Baptista also arrived on loan in exchange for Jose Antonio Reyes.

Gilberto, set to play on his home ground in Brazil's friendly against Argentina, believes that Denilson is one to watch.

"It was very important for us to bring him over," Gilberto told Sky Sports News.

"He will contribute a lot and I wish him a lot of success. He is another Brazilian to speak Portuguese with me, so it is good."

Reyes struggled to find his feet at Arsenal, while Baptista had similar problems adjusting to life in Madrid, but Gilberto is hoping to help his compatriot settle in North London.

"I will do what I can to help him, the same as Edu did with me when I came over," he said.

"He did the same job with me as I will try to do with him to help him settle quickly. I am here to help him.

"I have spoken to him about how fantastic the club is and I told him I think he will enjoy everything."
