Kolo Toure is hopeful he will avoid a ban if The Football Association reviews his late red card in a stormy end to Sunday's Carling Cup final.The FA is awaiting referee Howard Webb's match report before deciding whether to pursue further action following a mass brawl that erupted deep into injury-time at The Millennium Stadium.
Toure was dismissed along with Emmanuel Adebayor and John Obi Mikel, with Cesc Fabregas and Frank Lampard receiving bookings, and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is bracing himself for FA action following the unseemly incident.
Appeals against wrongful dismissal or mistaken identity must be lodged on Monday if any of the players involved are to escape three-match bans, and Toure is hoping that he will avoid a suspension.
"I do not think so [will get banned]. When they look at the tape, they will see I have done nothing wrong," said Toure.
"When you are a player like me, I have had a lot of games, but do not choose to do that type of thing.
"The people who run football know who is bad and they know that I am always trying to do my best for the club, the team and the fans as well.
"It can happen to anybody, though. You can make a mistake in any job, or do something bad. That is why you need to apologise, which I have done.
"You do not need to make it bigger.
"I do not feel so [that he let the side down], because I have given my best - everybody could see that, which is the most important thing for me."
Emmanuel Eboue appeared to lash out at Wayne Bridge, leaving the Chelsea man lying on the floor, and Arsenal must now wait to see what the referee's report contains before they learn if any further action will be instigated.
