Tigana targets Mendy

BERNARD MENDY continues to attract admiring glances from across the Channel with Fulham boss Jean Tigana believed to be keen on setting up a loan deal for the Paris Saint Germain defender.

Mendy, 20, is desperate to obtain regular first team football, although he did manage 21 appearances in all in last season's Le Championnat, only five of them were starts for PSG.

Everton have previously showed a strong interest in the highly-rated full back, but their negotiations with the French side have switched towards Eduoard Cisse as they aim to strike a permanent deal for Alex Nyarko, who has already winged his way to the French capital.

Tigana is tipped to move for Mendy after the bid to sign Parma's Antonio Benarrivo collapsed this week.

Although director of football Franco Baresi has contacted numerous targets in Italy, Tigana is still in charge of team affairs in West London, and is a great admirer of the young former Caen man.

PSG may not stand in Mendy's way, providing an economic agreement can be reached with The Cottagers, but a loan deal is considered to be the most likely option.
