Yobo boost for Toffees

EVERTON have received a boost with the news that new signing Joseph Yobo has not broken his leg.

The 21-year-old picked up severe bruising on his fibula in his Toffees debut on the club's Scottish tour at Third Division side Queen's Park last week.

Toffees boss David Moyes was concerned about the player's so much so he sent him for a second scan fearing he may have suffered a hairline fracture.

The tests have come back all-clear and Moyes is hopeful of having him fit for the season opener with Tottenham on August 17.

"The second scan shows that Joseph is fine, the scan results show there is no break," said Moyes.

"Now we know Joseph has no break, we can get on with his training and getting him into action.

"I'm not sure yet whether he will make our first game - he needs matches desperately and to become integrated with the rest of the squad."

Everton are now waiting to hear how serious Ducan Ferguson's new back injury is after sending the giant Scot for specialist examinations.
