Coleman still eyeing Davis replacement

CHRIS COLEMAN has revealed he has an alternative option if Claudio Reyna decides to reject a move to Fulham.

The rookie manager is adamant Everton and Middlesbrough target Sean Davis will not be leaving until a replacement is found, and Sunderland's Reyna is top of his wanted list.

However, Coleman has stressed there is another mystery option if the USA skipper does not end up at Loftus Road.

"Sean Davis is a Fulham player today," he stated. "And he will be until someone buys him or I get a replacement.

"We are looking. We have one or two names we are interested in, and, maybe if we can do a deal, and get a player in I'm after, we can open the door for Sean to leave."

Everton and Boro have been left on tenterhooks as both sides are desperate to sign the talented young Englishman, who has slapped in a transfer request.

"He wouldn't be able to play for a few weeks," commented Everton's David Moyes, speaking about Davis's injury.

"He's somebody we've been interested in for a while, and we're trying to pursue it, but Middlesbrough are in there too and I guess it will come down to the player's decision."

"We had a bid accepted by Fulham," stated Boro boss McClaren. "That shows we are interested and I want to bring him here. I said that a week ago and that's still the case."

New signing Mark Crossley has revealed, meanwhile, that he will pass on some tips to his new team-mates after only leaving Saturday's opponents Middlesbrough this week.

"I have some information I know and, hopefully, it'll help us for Saturday," he smiled.
