Moyes to check out Ferrari

Matteo Ferrari will get the chance to earn a permanent move to Everton.

Matteo Ferrari will get the chance to earn a permanent move to Everton as David Moyes struggles with what could be a defensive headache in the summer.

The Italian stopper is currently on loan from Roma and, although he has said he is not happy at Goodison Park, he could yet look for a permanent move.

The 26-year-old has struggled to get regular action this season, with injuries not helping his cause, and he could yet get the chance to shine in the remainder of the season.

Ferrari could well get the nod for the game against Charlton on Saturday, with Moyes keeping his options open.

"Matteo is a good player, a good defender," said Moyes. "We are just disappointed that we haven't been able to see a bit more of him than we have done.

"But we're hoping that in some of the games before the end of the year, he'll get an opportunity. It's only fair he gets the opportunity to show what he can do.

"Matteo was on the verge of getting a run in the team after Christmas but he got injured.

"His injury set him back, but he has been fit now for a week or so and hopefully we will get a chance before the end of the season to see him again."
