The teenager will undergo an operation on his shoulder and it is likely to be the end of November before he is fit to return.
"We feared he would need surgery," Everton physio Mick Rathbone told the club's official website.
"He saw the shoulder specialist in Liverpool on Thursday and he agreed he would need surgery.
"We expect him to be out for between three and six months - hopefully about the four month mark."
Meanwhile, chief executive Keith Wyness feels the club need to target qualification for the UEFA Champions League upon moving to a new stadium.
Everton have presented plans for a 50,000-seater ground at Kirkby and Wyness believes David Moyes must look towards finishing in the top four following the move from Goodison Park.
Wyness said: "The move would leave us with a small debt and the majority of new revenue would go on players.
"We would be aiming for a Champions League place. We wouldn't need it, but we would want it.
"I would not say that created pressure, every boss is under pressure."
