Sam slams Ricketts talk

BOLTON WANDERERS manager Sam Allardyce has once again denied any approach from Tottenham Hotspur for his young striker Michael Ricketts.

Reports in the Evening Standard suggested that Spurs are willing to offer a cash plus players deal for the burley striker, as he starts to rediscover the form that won him a senior England cap last year.

Ricketts has netted four goals in the last five games and is crucial to the Trotters' survival campaign.

Allardyce told the club's official website: "We've had no bid from Spurs for Michael Ricketts.

"The situation hasn't changed from the last time these rumours emerged."

The Bolton boss, clearly feeling the strain of having to constantly fend-off transfer speculation surrounding his own players, also rubbished reports that Spurs outcast, Sergei Rebrov, will make a switch to the Reebok Stadium.

Spurs would be willing to offer around £5 million for Ricketts, plus the option of either Les Ferdinand, Gary Doherty, Tim Sherwood, or Ben Thatcher in an exhange deal.
