Trotters trial duo

BOLTON WANDERERS are checking out the prospects of African-born duo Fousseni Diawara and Ibrahim Ba.

The Trotters are currently on a pre-season trip to Malta with Diawara (pictured) and Ba seeking to impress manager Sam Allardyce.

The Bolton boss has never been afraid to scour the bargain basement for fresh faces and will be hoping either Diawara or Ba will provide him with a cheap alternative.

Diawara is available on a free transfer after being on the books of French Second Division side St Etienne until the end of last season.

The 22-year-old Mali international barely featured for St Etienne last term but the imposing defender will be keen to shine in front of The Trotters' coaching staff.

French international Ba is also available for nothing after letting his contract with European champions Milan expire.

Ba endured a frustrating time during the past three years and earlier in the summer was linked with a move to Greek giants Olympiakos.

The 29-year-old midfielder, who was born in Senegal, will be determined to impress Allardyce as he aims to revive his career.
